Pixel density and retinal response for series photodiode circuit arrays

چکیده

Promising new research measuring the properties of series photodiode circuits has shown that they may be suitable for retinal prosthesis [1]. Photodiode arrays, in order to be effective in this capacity, must be pulsed with infrared light (∼900nm) at a much higher intensity than ambient light. The light must be infrared for this particular application because light in the visible spectrum may damage existing photoreceptors in the retina at the high intensities required to stimulate the needed currents.

Readout Characteristic of Integrated Monolithic InGaAs Active Pixel Sensor Array

A newly fabricated Mcaolithic InGaAs Active Pixel Image Sensor’z is presented, and its readout characteristics are described. The sensor is fabricated fhrn InCfiAs epitaxirdly deposited on an InP substrate. It consists of an InGaAs photodiode connected to InP depletion-mode Junction field effect transistors (J-s) for signal buffering, selection and reset. The monolithic sensor eliminates the ne...

Photovoltaic retinal prosthesis: implant fabrication and performance.

The objective of this work is to develop and test a photovoltaic retinal prosthesis for restoring sight to patients blinded by degenerative retinal diseases. A silicon photodiode array for subretinal stimulation has been fabricated by a silicon-integrated-circuit/MEMS process. Each pixel in the two-dimensional array contains three series-connected photodiodes, which photovoltaically convert pul...

High Fill-Factor Imagers for Neuromorphic Processing Enabled by Floating-Gate Circuits

In neuromorphic modeling of the retina, it would be very nice to have processing capabilities at the focal plane while retaining the density of typical active pixel sensor (APS) imager designs. Unfortunately, these two goals have been mostly incompatible. We introduce our transform imager technology and basic architecture that uses analog floating-gate devices to make it possible to have comput...

Investigation of low noise, low cost readout electronics for high sensitivity pet systems based on avalanche photodiode arrays - Nuclear Science Symposium Conference Record, 2002 IEEE

A compact, low noise and low cost readout system based on commercially available application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) is under investigation. These front-end circuits have been used to readout a prototype detector module comprising Lutetium Oxyorthosilicate (LSO) scintillation crystals coupled to avalanche photodiode (APD) arrays. A major goal for this work is to build a dedicated h...

A 768x576 Logarithmic Image Sensor with Photodiode in Solar Cell mode

The wide dynamic range and the contrast indexed imaging of logarithmic sensors have a great interest for a large variety of applications from digital photography to automatic machine vision. Still today, the high fixed pattern noise, low sensitivity and image lag remain open in such designs. In this paper, we present a new logarithmic pixel design by using photodiode in solar cell mode. This pi...
